Our Funds
Ethur Community Foundation works through funds rather than projects or programs.
Our funds are designed to mobilize local resources, support community-led solutions, and build long-term resilience in Abim. Each fund responds to a different need within the community, while reinforcing local ownership, shared responsibility, and sustainable development led from within.

Community Development Fund
The Community Development Fund is ECF’s flexible, community-owned fund that supports locally identified and locally led initiatives in Abim District. It is designed to respond to real priorities as they emerge, particularly where communities need small, practical resources to act quickly, test ideas, and sustain solutions.
Through this fund, ECF provides small grants, mentorship, and accompaniment to grassroots groups and community leaders, while strengthening confidence in collective action and everyday local giving.

Legacy Fund
The Legacy Fund is ECF’s long-term endowment built to secure intergenerational resources for Abim and reduce reliance on short-term, restricted funding. The Fund is invested for growth over time, ensuring the community has a sustainable resource base that can support locally led development for years to come.
The Legacy Fund also provides a resilience layer for ECF by strengthening the foundation’s internal sustainability, systems, and ability to steward community resources responsibly, even during periods of uncertainty or economic shock.

Mentorship and Leadership Development Fund
The Mentorship and Leadership Development Fund supports ECF’s leadership development and mentorship work and operates through a social enterprise model under WSI Uganda. The Fund mobilizes resources to deliver mentorship, leadership development, and capacity-building that equips young people and emerging leaders with the skills, confidence, and networks needed to lead change in their communities.
Revenue generated through training and mentorship contributes to ECF’s broader mission, while expanding access to practical learning opportunities grounded in dignity, agency, and local ownership.
Women's Livelihood Fund
The Women’s Livelihood Fund supports vulnerable women in Abim District to strengthen and stabilize their livelihoods through small, accessible, and community-based financing. The Fund focuses on women engaged in micro-enterprises for whom even modest capital can be transformational.
By combining access to capital with financial literacy, mentorship, and community accountability, the Fund supports women not only financially, but socially and practically. Investing in women’s livelihoods strengthens household stability, local economies, and women’s confidence as economic agents and resource-holders within their communities.
